Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
Truth is “lucky people” are opportunists.
They do the things that allow them to take advantage of the world around them. It’s the actions they take to get something the want.
Start doing these things and you will start feeling lucky as well.
1. Play to your strengths.
Focus only on what you do best. On what you love. You can delegate everything else. If starting a business, find a partner that compensates for your weaknesses. In this way you will shine where you best and by default, you will attract new opportunities.
2. Prepare in advance.
Establish a structure for smart decision making. Have an answer to every question related to your plan (even if you think that specific point or issue is small). This will allow you to succeed no matter what the future might bring.
3. Start early and be patient.
These days, many people only want to put their energy into things that provide immediate gratification. Fortunate people work hard and are patient. After a while they always collect the fruits of that hard work.
4. Connect with as many people as possible.
The key to success is to have access to as many opportunities as possible. Access comes from influence. If you’re influential, people will come and bring opportunities to you. The bigger your following, the more powerful your influence. The only way to build a big following is to provide something of value to people.
This is why you always have to do what you love. In this way you will always do it right and you will provide value to others. This will at the same time provide you with new connections.
5. Always follow up.
Opportunities often go because people don’t respond or follow up or take actions in a timely manner. following up is often as important as the act of initiating.
